2023 Events and Festivities

21st Annual Heiva I Kauai International Tahitian Dance Competition

What’s not to like about colorful clothes, live drumming, and dancing by the beach? For its 21st year, the Heiva I International Tahitian Dance Competition comes to Kauai this August. Self-described as a community-funded, family-centered celebration of Tahitian culture, this is educational fun for everyone.

When: August 5th, August 6th, 9 AM - 5 PM

Foamtastic Color Fun Run

What, you may ask, is a color fun run? This is a footrace, but all along the course, you will be bombarded by foam, color powder, and music! This event is open to the general public and welcomes runners of all ages. Of all the things you can do in life, this is one of the hardest to do without smiling.  

When: Friday, August 5th

Downtown Lihue Night Market

For those interested in some local shopping, an unusual and cool farmers market is the night market in downtown Lihue. On the evening of Sunday, August 13th, Kress Street and Rice Street will be covered with food trucks, fresh produce, locally made crafts, and live entertainment to go along with it.

The Party Weekend at Big Wave Dave's

Those looking to party down and have a fun-filled night out are in luck on Saturday, August 19th. Big Wave Dave’s in Kapaa is revamping their Party Weekends - a festive eruption of brews, food, live music, and friendly people. How friendly? Well, for starters, there’s no cover charge to get in!

Garden Isle Quilters Quilt Exhibit & Sale

Quilting is an important art form on the islands. These are not generic kaleidoscope patterns - through intricate weaving, the island’s best artists create complex images more akin to master paintings - all beautiful, all one of a kind. August’s Garden Isle Quilt Exhibit is a chance to see these stunning works in their alluring variety and perhaps even buy your own.
