The Prince Kuhio Park is a monument to Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole who was raised in Koloa. Had Hawai'i not been annexed to the United States, he likely would have reigned as king. Instead he was elected as a congressional delegate for Hawai'i for 10 consecutive terms. He was known as a tireless champion of Hawaiian culture and is so revered that his birthday, March 26, is a state holiday. The foundation of his home and fishpond are protected in the park. It is very well maintained with a pleasant view of the ocean.

Parking is available to the left in the back. Besides an ocean view, the park is home to the Ho'ai Heiau. It sits on the left side of the park and is an exquisite example of stone construction. Its lava stones are so well-fitted that they almost appear to be carved On Highway 50 from Hanapepe take a right onto Koloa Road near mile marker 11. Turn left onto Po'ipu Road from Koloa Road in south Kauai. The road will wind slightly past the Kiahuna Golf Course. At around mile marker 5 Po'ipu Road will branch off to the left. Follow the right fork onto Lawa'i Road with goes along the coastline. Prince Kuhio Park is less than a mile on your right.
