2022 Events and Festivities
Emma Farden Sharpe Hula Festival
Emma Farden Sharpe was, and still is, a legend in the hula world. This special celebration in her honor takes place in one of the most iconic locations on Maui, under the banyan tree in Lahaina. In addition to a hula workshop, there will also be free activities for kids and Maui-made artists. This will be one of the visually beautiful and culturally significant events of the month. Visitors of all ages will find something to marvel at here.
When: Saturday, August 27th, 9 AM - 5 PM
Where: 671 Front St, Lahaina (Lahaina Banyan Tree)
More Info: Emma Farden Sharpe Hula Festival Facebook
Margie Heart & Andrea Walls
For fans of jazz, August is going to be a good month. The first of two shows we’ll recommend will be at Java Jazz in Lahaina on August 8th. It will feature Margie Heart and Andrea Walls. Hosted by Manao Radio, this is an excellent opportunity for jazz fans or anyone curious about being exposed to the historical art form.
When: Monday, August 8th, 7 PM - 10 PM
Where: 3350 Lower Honoapiilani Road, Lahaina (Java Jazz)
More Info: Music2NITE Manao Radio
Yoshua Di Carpio & Andrea Walls
Not only is August a good month for jazz fans, it is a busy month for jazz musician Andrea Walls. Another August concert on the island will feature her and guitarist Yoshua Di Carpio. Once again held at Java Jazz in Lahaina, this is another chance to hear world-class music in a scenic setting.
When: Friday, August 19th, 7 PM - 10 PM
Where: 3350 Lower Honoapiilani Road, Lahaina (Java Jazz)
More Info: Music2NITE Manao Radio
Silent Disco at Down the Hatch
Yet another musical event, but of a wildly different flavor, will be the silent disco at Down the Hatch. Down the Hatch is a seafood restaurant, but on this fateful night, it will be a crowd of dancers moving to their own personal tunes in silence. Hawaii is an unusual place, and silent discos are something you won’t experience every day. This is a stellar choice for travelers looking to try something new and intriguing.
When: Thursday, August 18th, 10 PM - 11:55 PM
Where: 658 Front St, Lahaina (Down the Hatch, Breakwall Shave Ice)
More Info: Silent Disco at Down the Hatch
Bo Napoleon at Da Playground
If neither jazz nor silent discos strike your fancy, perhaps you’d like to see Bo Napoleon perform at Da Playground on Friday, August 5th. Bo Napoleon is a Hawaiian pop artist with some of the most joyful and uplifting music on any playlist anywhere - the perfect soundtrack for a summer vacation in Hawaii.
When: Friday, August 5th, 8 PM - 1 AM
Where: 300 Maalaea Rd, Wailuku (Da Playground)
More Info: Da Playground Maui
We hope you find this to be a helpful starting place for planning your August in Maui. As always, mahalo, and best wishes for your visit!
